The first exhibition of the research that surveyed and catalogued Nek Chand’s Rock Garden in Chandigarh. Before this project only limited plans of the garden existed; over three years it was measured, drawn and photographed, and every sculpture and natural rock on display was catalogued.
The exhibition brought together the survey drawings, a virtual-reality model and a short film shot in the garden, with sculptures made in the Rock Garden that had not been exhibited before. The full catalogue was shown too, so that the garden’s entire contents could be seen outside Chandigarh for the first time. It was accompanied by the book of the same name, published by Liverpool University Press.
