Maps, drawings, photographs and postcards gathered from fifteen archives and private collections, many shown for the first time, tell the story of how Jamestown, Accra’s historic port district, grew into a mercantile city.
Together they open a discussion about how the city once looked and how it saw itself, and what its surviving buildings might offer its future. The exhibition ran at the Jamestown Café in Usshertown, Accra, from 18 May to 30 June 2019, with a catalogue published by TAG Press. School groups were among its visitors.
